There are few things you can do in the kitchen, that resume one of life´s simple pleasures, as baking scones. Or biscuits, as they are called in America. My favourite recipe is one my mother handed over to me, a long time ago (please don´t ask how long), from a limited edition of a small cookbook that came as a gift when buying a baking powder of a very well known brand...about four decades ago....
Today is rather an odd day. It is a holiday in the middle of the week and it is about to rain. The forecast announced three whole days of rain and apparently they are not going to be mistaken this time. It is terribly cloudy and there is a cool, yet damp breeze that speaks of nothing else. And as it usually happens to me, I associate the weather to some bakes. Doesn´t it happen to you?
The only thing my mother changed from the original recipe for these classic scones was using cream instead of milk, and that is the way we have been doing them since then.
